Admission piece: The world... by send Admission piece: The world... by send
Full title: The World of Tomorrow.

I did this piece because this is a scenario I see as very realistic. One day, humanity will be gone, our cities overgrown, our children extinct. Do we control this ourselves or are we just part of the giant machine of events?

really loving the VERTICAL overgrown look... seen many ground shots.. and flattened half destroyed buildings but this has the jungle feel to it....

This is a truly good piece here. I like it. I've often had images like this in my head of what will be after we're gone. Someday that picture is likely to resemble truth. If history has thought us anything it's this. No species last forever.

when i saw that my jaw litterally dropped. that is the most amazing picture i have ever seen to date. its so... it gives me a feeling i cant put into words... like a certain sadness, but then a happy feeling; seeing the world as a newborn. its died, now its starting over the way nature intended. like a rebirth.

this is absolutely fantastic.

Well then the message is clear. Kill all the plants. They will not stand their teracotta cages much longer, we must act now!

hehe

Anyway, you did a great job on this, very cool. :)

Te goed. Hoe krijg je 't toch weer voor elkaar? Zo'n mooie foto en dan zo netjes bewerken, heb je hiervoor fotostock gebruikt? Machtig man

Wow.

That's incredible Seb. I guess my main problem with this is that it's so cluttered and it's pretty hard to define one thing from another at a glance. But from your description I know that's what you were trying to achieve as part of your concept. The way the trees and foliage are integrated is pretty quirky, in the way that it's not very 'clean'. I like that though, because it adds to the style, which when I first looked appeared to be a rendered scene. I probably got that impression from the levels of sharpness and definition to the edges, and the somewhat cartoon style. This would look amazing in full resolution, the way the scene engulfs and immerses you in the details is quality.

The way the colours look so.. toxic really pushes your 'self-destruction' concept to the forefront. It almost has the feel that there's a thick sulphur cloud hanging over everything. I'm interested, how long did this take you to complete?

First off, let me thank you for your elaborate comment. I really appreciate it.
The idea was to let certain parts be truly 'cluttered' and about as chaotic as a real jungle. It's a real mess of vines and leaves in places. I deliberately dramatised the shadow of the foliage because I wanted it to have a distinct "derelict" look.

When I recieved my admission form, with the assignment, I had six days to complete it. I spent two on idea development and sketching and then made this piece in three days, of which I just worked on the last night, all night long until about ten o' clock in the morning - alas I couldn't print it, all printers here are broke. Print here will be up soon, fortunately.

I will publish a WP version soon, as the 1600 px version has nice details as well. Thanks again for the input!
